With a missions and ministry background, she is an award-winning screenwriter-producer-director, script consultant and writing coach with over two decades of experience developing and producing content for film, television and emerging media. She currently serves as a development executive for Cooke Media Group in Los Angeles, producer of the Phil Cooke and Influence Women podcasts, and script consultant for Stage 32 in Hollywood.
She holds an MFA in Screenwriting, a B.A. in Ministerial Studies and completed post-graduate work in UCLA’s Professional Program in Producing. Her most recent film awards include Most Inspirational Short Film (ICFF) for “In Tune” (writer-producer-director) and the Telly Award-winning documentary “Asia: The Great Wall and Beyond” (writer) produced for TBN.
As a writing coach and mentor, Laura has helped hundreds of writers elevate their craft, strengthen their storytelling voice and move projects from idea to professional execution. She regularly teaches and speaks at industry and ministry events, including the National Religious Broadcasters Convention, ICVM Storytellers Conference and Stage 32 Writer’s Room. She is the author of Through the Valley—Move Your Life Forward in God and Write Above the Noise, and her YouVersion devotionals have reached more than 324,000 subscribers worldwide.
Laura is (happily) married to Sam Woodworth and has four adult children and several beloved grandchildren. Her passion is Jesus and her goal is to inspire others to join her in covering the earth with God’s glory.
