7 Scripture Prayers for a Fruitful Faith

In 2022, our family moved to a new city. Shortly after, we were able to meet some of our new neighbors. Due to the busyness of life with two littles, we only had a little time to talk, but we became acquaintances who exchanged waves and brief, cordial conversations. A few months later, one neighbor started bringing baskets of fruit and vegetables for us. As usual, our conversations were short, and the sounds of the kids playing prevented us from having a lengthy talk. Time and time again, he would bring stuff over—sometimes just leaving it on the porch for us. Again and again, I was unable to ask him why he would continue to bring us fruit. Don’t get me wrong, I thought it was a beautiful gesture, and the kids got so excited to see what he brought each time. However, my husband and I eventually got into a discussion about the possible reasons why he was doing it. We finally settled on the assumption that he was a kind and loving man, which we would assume is a Christian. In our minds, being a follower of Christ would explain his continued acts of kindness. Finally, my husband got a chance to talk to him when he dropped it by the house. Sure enough, he and his wife serve through their local church, and when they have extra produce from serving the community, they bring it to us, knowing we have kids and can use it. Our assumption was correct; through their actions, we recognized them for what they were. We could tell they were Christians because they were sharing their fruit.

The Bible is filled with analogies and verses that refer to producing fruit as an outward sign of faith. Scripture tells us that if we are walking with the Spirit, we will produce the fruit of the Spirit so that others will recognize us as disciples of Christ (John 15:8). As we stand firm, pursuing our relationship with Christ, we produce, “much fruit” and bring glory to the Father. Galatians 5:22-23 (NLT) tells us, “But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!”. I pray that we allow the Holy Spirit to work in our hearts so that others will see the fruit of our faith, honoring God with our lives each day.

Here Are 7 Scripture Prayers to Pray for a Fruitful Faith:

Love (John 13:34-35)

Loving Father, I thank You for the grace and unconditional love You have for me. Thank You for the gift of Jesus, who saved me from my sin. I surrender my life to Your purposes so that others may encounter Jesus.

Joy & Peace (Romans 15:13)

Lord, thank You for the hope we have in Christ. Holy Spirit, please fill me with joy and peace every day as I seek You. Thank You for the overwhelming peace You provide, and I trust Your plans for my life. And the joy You provide in all circumstances. I ask that You give me an abundance of joy and peace so that I may encourage others in Your glorious name.

Patience (Colossians 1:11)

Heavenly Father, thank You for the loving patience You show me. The grace-filled love that endures in my life. I pray for the strength and endurance to be patient and grace-filled in my encounters with others. Give me the patience necessary to love others and remind me that I should love them as You have loved me.

Kindness & Gentleness (2 Timothy 2:23-25)

God of mercy, thank You for Your kindness toward me. You gently guide and encourage my heart as I try my best to follow Your plans for my life. Please give me the strength and wisdom to show kindness and gentleness in this broken world. Help me show grace and love even in moments of disagreements with others. Calm my pride and settle my soul so that I can lay down my anger and combat hate with love.

Thank You for reminding me that You created me to do good works in Your name, to Your glory. Please give me wisdom and discernment to share Your goodness with others as You would have me do so. May others see you through the good works, You would have me walk in.

Faithfulness (1 Peter 4:10)

Loving Father, thank You for every blessing You have provided. Your provision is faithful. Holy Spirit guide my heart and decisions as I steward well what I have. May you remind me that everything I have comes from You. Give me the wisdom to be intentional in how I use the time, money and gifts You have graciously provided in my life. Encourage my heart as I serve others to glorify Your name.

Self-Control (Philippians 2:14-15)

Heavenly Father, I am so grateful for the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Thank You for the grace-filled conviction You provide as I pursue sanctification so that I may look more like Christ.
